Tips for the Money Smart Traveler
1. Don't be afraid of dependable budget airlines. I recently flew from Nashville to Orlando on Allegiant Airlines for $85 round trip. Great, non-stop flight! Might be a little uncomfortable for a long flight, but perfectly acceptable for a 2 hour flight. Look into your options for your next flight.
2. Use credit cards that award travel points. This is a great way to earn free flights and motels. Using it for your normal expenses and paying off each month is a responsible way to take advantage of travel reward cards.
3. Bring a refillable water bottle. If you don't like the taste of the local water bring some flavored mixins. Popular tourist areas charge an inflated amount for a bottle of water. At the end of a vacation, it adds up, especially for a large family.
4. Have groceries delivered. Amazon, Walmart, Kroger and many others do grocery deliveries for a small fee. Having some snacks and quick breakfast foods can really help keep dining expenses down
5. Travel during slow seasons. It really makes a difference in your resort rates. Room rates are driven by demand, so the less the demand the lower the rates.
